Annual NFPA 20 Fire Pump Performance Flow Testing
Fire pumps boost water pressure to ensure fire sprinkler heads receive required GPM flow when municipal water mains fall short. Under NFPA 20 and NFPA 25, annual flow testing is required to certify pump reliability.
Required Flow Test Conditions:
- • No-Flow (Churn) Test: Verifies net pressure at zero GPM flow.
- • 100% Rated Flow Test: Evaluates pump performance at rated capacity.
- • 150% Peak Flow Test: Ensures the pump can deliver peak demand without excessive pressure drop.
